Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
Thanks to the 5.6 version, and specialy the 'key pressed' and 'key released' features, I finaly can use Xpadder for some serious USB device programming. I'm building a cockpit for an chopper simulator (DCS Black Shark) where I need to emulate more than 300 short cuts through 9 BU0836X USB cards with 32 inputs + 1 Nostromo N50 + joystick Hotas cougar + rudder. The latest features from Xpadder 5.6 are vital for virtual cockpit builders as it allows to use switches and not only momentary ones.
Anyway, I spend 3 days programming my 11 USB devices with these 300 keyboard short cuts. When I load Xpadder, the Nostromo is rightly associated with the right profile, but as my 9 USB cards are having the same name ("BU0836X"), I have to manualy re assign each profile to each 9 devices. Is there any way to save those assignments eventhough the devices are having the same name?
By the way, once configured correctly with the associated profiles, Xpadder is doing wonders in my simulator! Extremely happy with it!
Thanks

Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
It's always nice to hear how a new feature instantly helps out It sounds like you're giving Xpadder a real workout with that setup!
Am I correct with these assumptions:
1) You have 11 controllers and 11 tabs appearing in Xpadder
2) The Nostromo and Hotas are ok and open the correct controller and profile files
3) The 9 BUs are opening the shared controller file correctly but their individual profiles (assignments) are all the same
4) You want BU1 to open BUProfile1, BU2 to open BUProfile2 etc?

Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
Hi Jonathan,
THanks for the quick reply.
Yes, for Nostromo and Cougar, the layout and assignement files are correctly opened with Xpadder.
For the 9 BUs cards, only the layout is correctly opened, but without the individual assignments.
I was hoping to have those assignements automatically associated with the correct BU card when opening Xpadder.
By the way, I have seen on the different cockpit builders forums where I have mentioned your software that the community is
getting rreally interested thanks to these new features of 5.6, as the only options for complex USB programming we had so far were not very
user friendly. I heard of at least one new customer since yesterday night. Keep on the good work!

Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
Just before I reply there is a topic here that may interest you and the community. Let me know if this or anything else would make the impossible possible
There are 4 ways to open profiles onto different controllers:
1) If the "AutoOpen" last used profile option is on in the main settings window then when you restart Xpadder the profiles will autoopen back onto the controllers, one per controller... although this is limited to four controllers as it's based on the recents list. (Who votes for more recent entries?)
2) Run Xpadder using the command line or batch file command: Xpadder bu1.xpadderprofile bu2.xpadderprofile bu3.xpadderprofile etc. You may need to adjust the order of your controllers to make sure this won't load profiles onto the non-bu controllers
3) Use the handy new multiplayer AutoProfile feature in v5.7 beta 3 (EDIT: Now available in all new versions)
4) Vote for multiple-profiles-inside-a-profile here

Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
Thanks for your help Jonathan. I will use the batch file command while waiting for the official release of 5.7.
By the way, this is what your software is used for (yes, ALL the switches you can see are actually doing something):

Wow. That. Is. Awesome.
Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
My Xbox 360 controller has now developed an inferiority complex!
I've posted this as the first of 1001 uses for Xpadder
Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
thats absolutely incredible. nice dude!
Re: Multiple identical controllers but different profiles
Thanks guys. Really appreciate your nice comments.
So you get the full picture, just a last one with the rear panels that XPadder is also handling.

You know you have a serious setup when it won't all fit in one photo

Holy spit... are you trying to get your pilot's license or something? That's an insane setup mate... I approve!
