Xbox 360 controller issue

Post by pocketdrummer »

I tried the previously free version with the 360 controller and had issues with the Left analog stick "sticking" to the right. I opened the control for this, and despite the program indicating it was in the dead zone, it still kept moving to the right while the stick was in the center position.

Is there a way around this? Otherwise, the program won't really be of much use to me. :-/

I seem to remember from the old forum of another user having the same issue and it turned out to be a program running in the back ground was causing problems. I can't recall what the program was used for. I can't find any posts of this issue since the relaunch.

I also remember a user experiencing this issue. I remember the user ended up finding out that his game had some controller support. Are you sure the game you are playing isn't conflicting with Xpadder?

I'm thinking it had something to do with a Logitec gaming mouse or keyboard and the extra software that came with it. But it may just be from a dream I had.

Its definitely possible. I was thinking of a second user with similar problems.

I'm currently using this:

Intel i7-920
Asus P6T Deluxe V2
6Gb Ram
9600GT
Windows 7 Pro (64-bit)
Microsoft multimedia keyboard
Logitech G9
Xbox 360 wired controller

The problem exists outside of games. When I was setting up the controller, all of the programs were closed aside from the antivirus (ESET NOD32).

I tried to disable the Logitech software, but that did not resolve the problem.

I also use ESET NOD32, so i highly doubt it would interfere with Xpadder.

When you say the left stick is sticking to the right, does the right assignment square stay green? Have you made an assignment to the left stick?

Yeah, when I move the left stick to the right, the green light stays on.

I've reinstalled drivers, reinstalled the programs, tried to turn settings on and off... nothing :_(

Hmm sounds like the calibration is off (or your controller could be broken). Try going into (this is all from memory and i can't test it out on my machine right now so bare with me) Windows Game Controllers and click on Advanced. Then Calibrate or something like that. Then from there click on reset calibration. Now don't bother re-calibrating it again and trying resetting it up in Xpadder. See if that works.

Again those instructions were from memory so it could be a little different.

Tried that, still doesn't work. The controller works fine in Borderlands and games running the source engine.

Is it linked to the 64-Bit version of Windows 7 (pro)?

Xpadder and 360 controllers work perfectly fine with 64-bit windows, so it can't be that.

Hmm, I'd really like to help narrow down this issue in whatever way I can. Are there any other things I can try?

i reread your first post. Are you still using 5.3? If so i believe this was a bug that was fixed a long time ago.

Is there a newer free version I can try before buying?

I should also add that it seems to be functioning like a toggle. I can push right and it turns on, then push right and it turns off (100% repeatable).

That person seems to be having the same problem only with the right stick.

No sorry. Xpadder went commercial after 5.3.

Sometimes starting fresh can solve these kind of problems. Fully close Xpadder by right clicking the icon in the notification area/system tray and choose "Close".

Next open the folder containing the xpadder.exe application file in Explore. There should be a configuration file named xpadder.ini, rename it to something like oldxpadder.ini. Now restart Xpadder, it will go through the first start dialogs. Go through the steps to create a new controller layout. One of the axis may have have been detected as another. Lets see if this clears it up.
