The Elder Scrolls Online BETA (X360)

Post by justsimon »

hi guys - a lot of people have been asking for a basic 360 gamepad profile for the Elder Scrolls online... this is far from perfect but certainly helps in the simple aspects of running around questing, fights and looting bodies, opening doors etc...

i'll be working on a refined version by the next BETA which will include menu and dialog profile. enjoy

Code: Select all

;--- Xpadder Profile Data ---
DataType=Profile
Version=2012.12.31

thanks....I enjoy the game but moreso with a gamepad...I can tell it was made for a console. Kinda like Diablo 3 which I also play with a gamepad.

I am using this profile in the early access of ESO but there is a buggy thing that keeps happening. Characters can do a 'dodge roll' which is not bound to this profile but regularly my character does a dodge roll for no reason, seems randomly. This happened during beta phase too. Im going to create a new profile from scratch tonight so will see if that makes a difference.

Does the dodge roll work by double tapping the respective direction key (WASD)?

The character dodge rolls only when moving around so it may be that the movement of the left stick (WASD) is doing it. I will check that out tonight on the keyboard to see if it does do that - thanks for the tip :)

If the double tap of a direction is causing something different like dash, roll or sprint this happens sometimes when starting to move the stick into a direction. I'm 100% sure why, but I suppose that the reasons is simply a slight quiver of the thumb exactly at the boundary of the Dead Zone.

This should fix it:

Code: Select all

;--- Xpadder Profile Data ---
DataType=Profile
Version=2013.06.07
Name=Elder Scrolls Online
Set1Button1Slots=E
Set1Button2Slots=X
Set1Button3Slots=R
Set1Button4Slots=Space
Set1Button5Slots=Tab
Set1Button6Slots=Left Shift
Set1Button7Slots=I
Set1Button8Slots=M
Set1Button9Slots=Left Control
Set1Button10Slots=Z
Set1DPadUpSlots=3
Set1DPadRightSlots=4
Set1DPadDownSlots=1
Set1DPadLeftSlots=2
Set1Stick1UpSlots=W,RELEASE ZONE 0.01s,TAP TIME 0.30s,W,RELEASE ZONE 0.30s
Set1Stick1RightSlots=D,RELEASE ZONE 0.01s,TAP TIME 0.30s,D,RELEASE ZONE 0.30s
Set1Stick1DownSlots=S,RELEASE ZONE 0.01s,TAP TIME 0.30s,S,RELEASE ZONE 0.30s
Set1Stick1LeftSlots=A,RELEASE ZONE 0.01s,TAP TIME 0.30s,A,RELEASE ZONE 0.30s
Set1Stick2UpSlots=Mouse Move Up
Set1Stick2UpMouseSpeed=32
Set1Stick2RightSlots=Mouse Move Right
Set1Stick2RightMouseSpeed=32
Set1Stick2DownSlots=Mouse Move Down
Set1Stick2DownMouseSpeed=32
Set1Stick2LeftSlots=Mouse Move Left
Set1Stick2LeftMouseSpeed=32
Set1TriggerLeftSlots=Right Mouse Button (2)
Set1TriggerRightSlots=Left Mouse Button (1)
I have added release zone to the left stick that adds a button press of the respective direction button of 0.30s if the respective stick direction was hold for less than 0.30s, so the game should interpret every movement of the stick as held and never as tapped. I'm pretty that you won't feel any difference, but the roll shouldn't be triggered anymore accidentally. The problem with that is that the roll wouldn't be possible anymore, for that I would need a free button for a set selector that basically changes the function of the left stick from only move to only roll.

Actually you can just turn off the "double tap to dodge" function within the ESO settings. I don't remember exactly what sub-menu, but it is definitely there.

Even better. Then it should be possible to bind a dodge/roll key that could be assigned via tap&hold (under Specials at the bottom end).

When I use my right joystick it seems 10x slower than when I used my mouse. Is this the same for you all?

Yes same problem here with slow camera panning on right stick.

You can increase the mouse emulation speed by clicking on the tool symbol near the right stick and then on "Mouse Settings..." and using the two sliders for the horizontal and vertical mouse speed. This setting will be saved for the respective set in the respective profile.
