Controller not accessible

I can no longer use my controller in Xpadder, because whenever I install it, a while later it appears listed in red and it is not possible to access or configure it. Reinstalling the program everything goes back to normal, but soon after the problem returns.

If the tab in the top-left of Xpadder turns red this means that the controller has been disconnected (or Windows has lost contact with it somehow)
When it next happens try right-clicking the Xpadder icon by the clock and close Xpadder
Now restart Xpadder. Is the controller available again?
