how to use hold button features
I am having trouble setting hold button when used for running or using hold and release to do a secondary action for a button ex: flashlight or pda

I guess you are referring to what we call "tap and hold".
Let's say "f" is flashlight and "P" PDF, then the assignment has to look like this.
If you tap the button and release it before 0.31 seconds, Xpadder will press F once (actually the second Release Zone should be 0.29, but this 0.01 seconds overlapping never caused any problems for me).
If you hold the button for longer then 0.30 seconds, Xpadder will hold P as long you hold the button. If the game reacts after releasing P then it is useful to add and 0.10 Hold Zone at the end, so Xpadder will release the key after 0.10s automatically.
