Problems with Auto-start in Win7

Post by troelsbusk »

I am having problems using Xpadder.
I have selected the options that makes xPadder autostart with windows.
However, the program show its 'install screen' after booting windows.
And my profile is not loaded automatically on startup either.

My setup
Acer Revo 3610 Nettop
Win7 64 Bit Home Premium

What do you mean the install screen? Are you talking about the prompts that show up the first time you run Xpadder or do you mean the self-extracting file that you need to run to extract Xpadder itself?

I think I have solved the problem myself by reading another thread.
It probably has to do with permissions and Win7 not allowing writing to the .ini-file
I will check when I get back to the computer that is running xpadde.

Oh ok i know what your talking about now. Yes if Xpadder is in a folder that needs special write permissions (such as the folders in your "Program Files" directory) it won't be able to create a .ini file which will prompt Xpadder to go through its "First time run" prompts. Move Xpadder to a folder that doesn't need special write permissions (such as those in your "Documents" directories) and your problem should be solved.
