problems setting up my ps3 controller

I'm still unable to configure my ps3 controller dual shock3 six axis. I'm running vista x64. I am able to see the ps3 controller in the control panel but when i go to test nothing moves, xpadder also see's the ps3 controller but im unable to set any button's or move any of the movment sticks. I don't know what to do, can someone help me pleasei spent most of the night trying to figure this out and im all out of ideas.

How are you connecting the controller to your pc? What driver are you using? The procedures I've heard of require you to run a utility that kind of links or pairs the controller to the driver before it will work.

I'm connecting the controller with a usb cable using default driver from vista

Vista doesn't have a default driver for the ps3 controller as Sony has not released a pc driver for it. The generic driver will not work as the dualshock and sixaxis controllers are far from generic. There are some third party drivers available. Here is one option.
