Analog stick not analog?

As far as i see the analog stick can't be set to act as a joystick instead of keystrokes? I'm finally able to play Mafia 2 this way but it has become a bit negative on the steering side.
I'd like it to be like with the XBox controller where the left stick is used to steer the vehicle in the normal way ( not full left or full right ) - i've switched the sticks though, but this should be no issue i think.

This isn't possible. Xpadder only sends keyboard signals, and with the keyboard you could only steer full left and right too.
But why don't you use the native gamepad support of the game if you have a Xbox360pad?
