Logitech dual direct input / x input controllers and Xpadder

Post by mattg568 »

I've got a question about the new Logitech PC controllers that can switch between direct input and x input via a switch on the controller. According to reviews I've read of these controllers, having it in direct input mode makes windows see the controller as a Logitech rumblepad 2 and when it's in x input mode, windows sees it as an Xbox 360 controller. How would Xpadder treat these controllers? Will Xpadder see one controller when it's in direct input mode and another when it's in x input mode? Can these controllers switch between modes while connected or do you have to unplug, switch modes and then reconnect?

It's impossible to know without testing one of these controllers or reading some documentation, but I can say with a very high confidence level that when you switch input modes, the controller will be seen as a different controller by Windows. (And by Xpadder as well.)

I have found this.

I interpret that you can switch the mode while the controller is connected. But is a game running, it will most likely not detect the controller anymore. So it is either like a reconnect or like disconnecting one controller and connecting another.
Since Xpadder detects new controllers instantly, there is no such problem. The only problem could be that you have to configure two controllers, since the controller type could change.
