Thief: Deadly Shadows (X360)

Post by Primal Fear »

-hold the right stick button for 0.50 seconds to switch the camera position
-you can abort shooting an already loaded arrow by pressing A
-use B also to move back in the menu
Image

-hold the left shoulder button (bumper) to switch to this set
-if a button has two names, seperated by a /, then it means that the first one is assigned on tap and the second one on hold
-hold the QuickLoad button (Back) for 0.70 seconds to load the Quick Save
-you can also turn pages with "Prev.Weapon" (Dpad left) and "Next Weapon" (Dpad right), strangely this doesn't work with the maps
-the right stick has a 80% DeadZone the prevent selecting the wrong item

[Important]Actually this game has a native controller support. But there are problems because a of a too small Dead Zone. Apart from the usual problem with that, it also isn't possible to edit the controls in-game (only by editing your options.ini file) since the game detects the axis 'JoyR' all the time. This also seems to cause a crash when selecting one of the first three entries to edit.
The problem with using Xpadder is, that the left stick is preconfigured by the game, so there will still be this usual problem with this Dead Zone.

Simple solution:
Delete these gampad assignments by right clicking on 'JoyX' and 'JoyY' under Options->Inputs in the game.

Advanced solution to have a fully analog left stick (not only in three steps):
Open the "DEFAULT.INI" of the game, you'll find it under ...\Thief - Deadly Shadows\System. Then edit the the value "DeadZonePercent__t=0.10"->0.20 and save the file (strangely this doesn't solve the problem with detecting 'JoyR' in the input settings of the game).
Open my profile with Xpadder and delete the assignments of all four direction of the left stick in both sets (by clicking with the middle mouse button on them) and save the profile.[Important]

Another hint with this .ini: If you edit following entry, you can turn off the intros.
  • "[PCStartup]
    ShowIntroMovies=True"->False
Make sure that it is the entry under [PCStartup], there is also such an entry under [XboxStartup]

Code: Select all

Big update that adds direct weapon selection and Quick Save and Quick Load in set2.
I have also found a new solution to handle that Dead Zone problem, that makes a fully analog left stick possible.

So I did as you stated, but Garrett doesn't move even an inch. the left stick directions do not respond. Any idea?

>>Then edit the the value "DeadZonePercent__t=0.10"->0.20

I guess you just made a typing error, right? The line is without the "__t". Is that correct?

You still have deleted the stick assignments in the game, right? But if you edit the .ini and so delete the Xpadder assignments, you need them instead. Simply click on "Default" in the input settings of the game.

And as for the .ini entry, no there is definitely a the "__t" for me and there is no entry without that.
I have installed Patch 1.1, maybe thats he reason for it.

Another update, I have moved the whole weapon selection to the A, B, X and Y buttons. That's more intuitive.
Now I'll keep it like that (except there is any failure in the profile, but I'm pretty there isn't).
