=============================================================
CHANGE LOG:
=============================================================
08/13/2014
Added lean AND walk to lean modifier. Stick passed 80% is lean+walk.
=============================================================
*08/06/2014 Refinements, autopilot sprint, and throwing
Changed tolerance on walk to jog from 50% to 40% (preference)
Had to change walk from Shift+W to Left Ctrl+W per game changes.
"Select" now toggles an autopilot sprint. (VERY useful for open areas)
*You MUST click in again to turn it off or tap on RB otherwise you'll keep sprinting forever!
"Start" now has a Hold modifier to show Player List
"X" now has a Hold modifier for Reload
"LS Click" now has a Hold modifier for Throw (you can aim and throw!! it's flippity-dippity-doo beautiful!)

Actions Set changes:
"Left Dpad" now has a Hold modifier for Facepalm
"Right Dpad" now has a Hold modifier for Shhhh
"Down Dpad" now has a Hold modifier for Cut Throat
"X" has been changed and is now T for changing firemode on an automatic weapon (reload remapped to default X hold)
"A" is now F use instead of middle click use... mostly just for snip-snap and giggles, both do the same thing.
"Select" will now toggle voice chat on and off for you chatty talkers out there
"Start" will show or hide item Hotbar
=============================================================
April 2014
*adding Throw. Had to assign "G" in game controls.
In "Actions" A Select Use is Throw. Tap to throw, hold to charge throw. No, you need to be able to move and aim... perhaps on RB Bumper but I don't like that...
*instead of making a full new video, make a quick one that shows adding in the Throw so people get some sense of how to use xpadder.
=============================================================
*2/11/2014 Gesture system overhaul. Making room for new gestures and laying the foundation for future gestures.
Youtube Video of new Gesture system: http://youtu.be/XE4ZHzOVUKA

CHANGES (with LB Held):
UP: tap for Wave, hold for Thumbs Up
DOWN: tap for middle finger
LEFT: Clap
RIGHT: Point
LS CLICK: Surrender
RS CLICK: Sit
X: Reload
=============================================================
*1/18/2014 Slight further refinement. Added scope zeroing and tweaked the sprint threshold.
Youtube Overview (doesn't show new gestures but covers everything else): http://youtu.be/GQJf5akzj4E
=============================================================
This is a work in progress... It will change as more functionality
is added to the Alpha.

this is heavily modified from a previous Arma 2 DayZ profile

Heh... well... I've already started to make changes to this. Not sure how many people are going to use it and if you would like me to continually update it in here? For my personal use, I've remapped the Hop Vault to be Y (like jump in Skyrim) and put Select Use on A and I put X as Reload. I got rid of F Use on Y since it seems to function the same as middle mouse click Select Use. Idk... I'll be tweaking it a lot. Do you want me to update it here?

It must be mine, I see similarities!

I haven't used it, but it does seem like a decent alternative to my DayZ profile.

Just tried this out using a Dualshock 4 controller. I used the profile converter from Xbox to PS3. The lft and rt bumper buttons did not map, but everything else seems to work. In my very short test session this seems very promising. The movement is much more fluid than using keyboard/mouse.

Yes, please do keep updating.

Was working on one myself, but it seems you have put out a really good foundation for me to work with.

Will post my thoughts after i give it a shot.

Posted a few small tweaks to first profile code (that will be the default one and I'll tweak it unless I make major changes.) Also added a MUCH better video demonstration.

This may be a bit much to ask but I really suck with xpadder and I'm a bit more traditional fps player. You think you could make one where you hold LT to ADS and toggle zoom with LB then your +Action is moved to RB? I think I can take it from there but I also want to change free look toggle to RS (click), inventory to BACK, view to BACK (hold), Stance to B, Select Use to A, Vault Hop to A (hold), F Use to X, Raise to Y, Voice to Y (Hold), and Sprint to LS (click).

EDIT: I also have a really good solution to making sprint on the LS (click) act just like BF and CoD. Just FYI.

Drewelite... sorry, man, but that IS a bit much to ask. :P
You can dig into the profile assignments and check out other profiles to try and get what you want. I don't want to fuss with mine much because it's right where I want it. Check out InTheCatBox's profile: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4810
I started mine with one of his older ones from Arma 2 and then modified it heavily to my tastes. His approach might be more what you are looking for, or at least give you more options to study the assignments.

The sprint click LS is pretty easy. Just check "Toggle" on the assignment and then set the button to Shift. That way Shift would be on as long as the stick is clicked.
But yeah, I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just really don't want to mess with my profile because it took me a LONG time to get it where I wanted it and there are so many controls in DayZ. It'll give me a stroke if I start changing it all around. Hah.

Just started to use you profile and while I love the idea of it, Im having trouble getting it to work properly, both sticks work as well as triggers, but every other button doesn't seem to work, Any Suggestions you have would be appreciated as I really would love to use a controller for most things in DayZ, perhaps Im installing incorrectly, I copied and pasted from profile here and copied into xpadder, have latest version as I actually bought Xpadder yesterday just to use this profile, though Im sure Ill use it for more games.

EDIT 1: Nevermind figured out the problem I was having no everything works greats, awesome profile

Hey , Just bought this xpadder for this profile and playing DayZ , I have added my controller image but cannot figure out how to add this profile and search does not retrieve a step by step process for adding profiles ,, I feel i just wasted $11.00 and a lot of time :(
How do copy the controller settings from here and paste to my controller settings ? thanks

Once the controller is all set up and working look at "Keybindings" section. On that pic where it says the profile "day z changed" (an example) click on that little notepad icon to the left of it, from there you'll see an option to paste in any profile you copy. Hope that helps.

No problem. Xpadder is a little tricky to figure out at first but once you get the hang of it you can do all sorts of cool things.

If it somehow got uninstalled (did you try a program search?) you can download it again from here: viewforum.php?f=29
and this guide: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... 949#204790 will help you configure the controller so you can use my profile.

Hey, this is really brilliant! Thanks!

I've messed around with a few personal changes, but there's one thing I'd love to get working. Would you know if there's a way to toggle sprint by clicking the left stick? So, up on the left analog would be shift+w, then at >50% it's w, then if i clicked in the stick it would toggle the up arrow and make my character sprint.
So far if I set it to the up arrow normally, I have to keep the left analog stick depressed, which is uncomfortable, and inconsistent. However, if I set it to toggle, that's obviously not ideal, since I'd have to press it again every time I stopped running, or I'd keep jogging! lol

No, I only know of the two ways you described: Hold Lstick to sprint or toggle it (requiring you to click again to stop sprinting). That's actually one of the reasons that I prefer to put it to 99% on the stick movement. I've tried a few different methods before but nothing really got sprint to work in the way you are describing (like it a typical console FPS). I feel like there might be a solution with using Release zones... but that's a nut I haven't cracked yet.

I would normally recommend binding SHIFT to another button like RB or LB but with DayZ... there are already so many commands that it's pretty hard to shuffle commands around on my current profile.

Okay, so I messed around yesterday for a while and I cracked it! It's not 100% perfect as you can't use the LB modifier when you're sprinting as it locks the Actions modifier on in xpadder, but there's nothing really on that you'd be doing while sprinting anyway!

Basically, I made a third set, I labelled Sprint Modifier and then set UP on the Left Stick to switch to it while held (the same way your gesture modifier works). On this set, Left Stick Click is set to toggle LEFT CTRL, and in game I've set Fast Forward to CTRL+W... As long as UP is held, Sprint will be toggled on, but as soon as you let go, it switches back to the first set where CTRL isn't bound to left stick click, therefore un-toggling and stopping sprint!

I've made a few changes for myself, too. For instance:
B now toggles between crouch and stand
LB+B toggles between go prone, and stand
X is now interact, hold it for voice
A is to jump
Y is inventory
Click right stick to raise fists/weapons
Back is change fire mode, hold it for players list

I also changed the Walk-Run amounts on the left analog to 0-98%=Walk, 98-100%=Run

In game, SHIFT is still held down to walk, but as I said, Fast Forward is now LEFT CTRL+W

Here's my modified profile. Enjoy!

Nice. yeah, i was just going to reply that I figured it out too (I got too curious). Glad you figured it out. I'll probably hold onto my set up the way it is, I actually like LS stick being raise fists and it also relates to how I set up the gesture system, but yeah, it seems like some folks don't like all movement being analog based. If I make another video in the future with more updates I'll definitely mention your tweaks. You should toss your changes up in the game profile list so it's not lost in this thread. Mine wasn't created from scratch either. I used InTheCatBoxAgain's older Arma 2 profile and heavily modified it.

Thanks for the profile :) I am useless with k/m and your profile makes a controller work with DayZ. I use a Logitech F710 Wireless game pad and its not 100% matching to the xbox gamepad but works well. If anyone has a profile for the F710 please do share.

Do I need to map out the controller after copying and pasting the code? I can't seem to get anything to work - I can only run/job/walk, zoom with LT and use my right stick to look around. Thanks!

It works. It's not the profile. They changed the way you swing in the game. It can't be swung anymore unless you Raise the weapon first (spacebar on keyboard, Left Stick click on my profile). Kind of a weird change, I'm not sure if all melee weapons are like that now or only "heavy" ones.

I know your issue is already resolved but I'll paste the answer here for others.

Sounds like maybe the controller is still registered in DayZ.
*Make sure the controller is disabled in the Game Configuration: Configure / Controls / Devices / Disabled
If it's not disabled then it's stacking up inputs.
It is registering what the game had set for RB plus what I had RB set for through Xpadder.

Once you have xpadder configured and my profile saved just do this in DayZ:

IMPORTANT:
*In Game Configuration, Delete Walk or Run Toggle "2X Shift" command to avoid Lstick shenanigans
*Make sure the controller is disabled in the Game Configuration: Configure / Controls / Devices / Disabled

As a preference I also changed "Z" from "Prone" to "Go Prone" in the DayZ assignments. If you check out my youtube videos I also made a new one where I cover how to change settings in my profile and assign the new throw command (I didn't make that part of the official profile yet).

My foundation for this was InTheCatBoxAgain's Arma 2 profile (you can find it in the profile list on this forum). I ended up changing a lot around but his set up was designed for Arma 2 so I'd recommend it.

Anybody else have problems scrolling in the inventory ? It only works about 1 out of every 4 tries. I have to keep opening and closing inventory until it will let me scroll down.

It shouldn't. Dpad up and down are always mapped to scroll wheel on tap... are you perhaps holding on dpad up or down? A hold will be Page Up and Page Down for weapon scope zeroing. Tap is mouse scroll, hold is page up / down.

Hmm... Idk.. you can download a .zip with the profile instead of pasting in the data here:

Did you make sure to follow this? If you don't then DayZ is still trying to use its own controller commands:

IMPORTANT: goto DayZ menu
Disable any detected Controllers in DayZ:
Configure / Controls / Devices / Disabled (both sets)

Delete Walk or Run Toggle "2XLeft Ctrl"
assignment to avoid Lstick snafu
Configure / Controls / Assignments / Infantry Movement / Walk or run toggle

Are you using the most recent build of Xpadder? Should be Version 2014.07.01.
Also, you could try downloading the zip folder and opening the xpadder profile from here:

OK, imma sound dumb, but when i go to dayz, and i try to disable the controller detect, i have 2 options, enable, or customize, and i tried enabling it (so i could disable later), but it doesnt change and it just keeps saying enable.

If it's saying "Enable" and that's a brighter option (white) for Customizable Controller and Controller with a Scheme, then the controller should be disabled and you'll be good to go.
Just also make sure to delete the 2X Run Walk Toggle in Keyboard Assignments too.

Hmm... I'm not sure about that one... The right stick doesn't operate the mouse cursor anymore? Are you sure you disabled the controller in DayZ? Maybe it's still trying to use the in game bindings which I'm assuming don't really work for inventory management.

Thank you for the reply and insight. After fiddling around I discovered that the curser does not match with an item when pointed at. I must off set the cursor arrow way off to the outside of the inventory box on the screen in order to highlight an item. Im not sure what caused this or how to fix it other then a complete delete ans reinstall of the game ? Do you know how to realign the mouse cursor to actually work when hovered directly over an item rather then playing ghost with it.
Thank you

I'm sorry but I don't know how to fix that. Does the mouse cursor work ok when you have xpadder open on desktop? You should be able to move the mouse cursor around on your desktop if you open xpadder and my profile (or any profile really). You can test it all without opening DayZ to figure out if it's something in DayZ or something that needs calibrated in xpadder. It could be an issue of deadzone alignment for your right stick in xpadder.

Well I got it figured out . I'm embarrassed to say that the screen resolution setting for images was set at small , I set it to large and it fixed the problem . Just another quirk with Windows 8 . Thank you very much for your assistance essential egg and I do have a challenge for you,, if you could consider creating a profile for euro truck simulator 2 that would be amazing ,thanks again.

I... have no idea. Does it do that or any other profiles? It could be that your controller isn't mapped into xpadder correctly.
You also want to make sure that the controller is disabled in the game (I put instructions up on top to double-check).

If it's doing that for other profiles then I would think your mapping for the controller is off. This might help:

Here's the full list of guides:

Hope that helps.

Hmm.. I'm sorry. I'm not sure what to suggest. Maybe try contacting support? If it's doing it with other profiles and not just mine I would think it has to be something with how it's mapped in.
