[New] Fallout: New Vegas [Edit - 25/08/14] (X360)

Post by DaNuttyNoob »

[Hi-De-Ho Reader/Readers! This is My Xpadder Profile for Fallout: New Vegas!]
. So, before you ask; yes I know Fallout: New Vegas has controller support. So why DaNuttyNoob, why did you bother wasting precious hours of your life, just to create a profile for a game that already has controller support? Well my dear reader/readers, I did this not only because I forgot that New Vegas already had support, but because I found that when aiming down the iron sights of my trusty Varmint Rifle, the sensitivity was just as fast as if you were not aiming down them. This made it incredibly hard for me to aim at those pesky bandits and stupid mud crabs...oh.. yeah, this is fallout... :/...Anyway, to swiftly re-cap, I have created a profile for a game that doesn't really need it, but in my opinion seriously does.

[*Edit 25/08/14*]
--Made activate more forgiving.
--Added a hold to Quick-load to stop you from accidentally pressing it and loosing data.
--If you press and hold LT and then hold the D-PAD down for one second, you will now open the console commands.

[What you Need to do to get the Profile to Work.]
. Firstly you will need to disable the official Xbox 360 controller support in the game's options menu. As you can imagine if not disabled, this would interfere with the profile completely.

. Secondly you will need to reset the keyboard and mouse controls to their default setting, this can be done in the controls section of the options menu.

.Thirdly whilst in the controls menu, you will also need to change the default control for run. You will need to change it from "L-Shift " to "/"

. After doing that, the profile should now be able to work. Congratulations! :D

[What I Couldn't Get to Work 100% Like the Xbox 360 Controller, That I Know of.]
. Firstly, while you are conversing, you are not able to skip through the chat dialog using the "A" button. Luckily you can solve this by using the Right Analog Stick to hover your mouse over the chat dialog box, and then use the Right Trigger to skip through it. Alternatively you can use the, "A" button instead of the Right Trigger.

. Secondly, there's a problem with exiting the mod menu interface in the inventory. After you have pressed "Y" to enter that menu as normal, to exit you have to press "A" - This will then take you back to the previous screen. Alternatively you could just press, "B" but that will completely close the Pip-Boy.

. Thirdly, you cannot press, "B" to go back in mostly all of the pause option menus. Instead you'll have to move the mouse over to the back button in the bottom right of the screen, using the Right Analog Stick to move the mouse and Right Trigger to Left Click. This will take you back one page as normal. There is another way to go back and that's by pressing "Start" - But because it acts like, "Esc" it'll take you out of the pause screen completely, and not back one screen.

. Fourthly, when you use Vats, you can't use the "A" button to lock in the part of the target you want to select, or use the "B" button to de-select. You instead have to use the Right Trigger to lock in your selection, and use the Left Trigger to de-select your locked in selection, or exit the Vats interface. Personally I recommend following the is suggestion below.
* The suggestion down below.*
What I do when it comes to Vats, is use the Right Analog Stick to control the mouse and use that to target the area I want to select, (In my opinion it's much more precise doing it this way.) I then use the Right Trigger to lock the selection in, as said previously, and use the Left Trigger to de-select or exit, like I also previously mentioned.

. Fifthly, when using shops, the LB/RB buttons switch between the buying and selling tabs. Also if the item you want to buy, or sell, doesn't get selected, press left or right to switch between the secondary tabs,(e.g Misc,Ammo,Aid) and then go back to the item you wanted. This should make the item able to be highlighted. This can also sometimes happen in the inventory. To fix this just do the same as what was mentioned previously. If that method fails for either the inventory or the shop menu, (much more likely the shop menu) move the mouse using the Right Analog Stick and highlight the selected item, this should make it work. If the highlighted box gets stuck after doing the before mentioned method, just move the mouse it out of the way of the highlighted box, and it should work.

. Sixthly, you can't scroll in and out of the mini-map inside your Pip-Boy like you can using the Xbox 360 controller. This is because it interfered with a few things. So instead you can zoom in/out of the mini-map by holding down the Left Analog Stick, and then either tapping or holding LB to zoom out, or RB to zoom in. Make sure your map search square is on the mini-map before you do this, otherwise nothing will happen.

. Seventhly, when it comes to dropping items, you need to make sure the item you're dropping is highlighted, and then hold down the "X" button for one second. This should drop the item.

. Eighthly, to exit container menus, you will need to press "Y"

[Extra Ability's]
. While holding down the Left Trigger you can:

Quick-Save the game by pressing the D-Pad to the left.
Quick-Load by pushing the D-Pad to the right.
Take a Steam Screenshot by pushing the D-Pad up.
Open the console commands by holding down the D-Pad for one second.

Here's the Profile:

my work-around for this problem was to have the aim/scope button switch to another set where the sensitivity is much lower and easier to aim with. it has helped me greatly with Ghost Recon: Phantoms. Good Luck!
