Hello,
Put together a profile for the original Crysis (and Warhead, perhaps?) with minimal game file changes. It’s been working very well for me considering the “unique” choices made for the default gamepad layout. Hold to aim, toggle crouch/prone and nanosuit mode shortcuts are working well. (Crouch/prone is a little off, but fine.)

One hurdle is that these changes need x360ce’s xinput1_3.dll and a “clear” ini file to block the default gamepad. (Just the dll didn’t seem to work for me.) I can post the code for the ini if anyone’s interested.

Keep in mind, once you disable the default in-game gamepad controls, you’ll only be able to navigate menus with keyboard/mouse commands. (i.e. Right Stick to move the mouse cursor, Right Trigger for left click, and Start for Esc/Back.)

A couple minor game file changes are necessary to implement toggle crouch and the nanosuit shortcuts.

!Backup these files before you change them!

This assigns the four different nanosuit modes to the unused 6, 7, 8 and 9 keys.
For the nanosuit shortcuts: Show
You’ll need to edit the YourUserFolder\Documents\my games\Crysis\Profiles\default\actionmaps.xml file. Find the following line and add a blank line below it:

<actionmap name="player" version="20">

In that blank line, paste the following:

Code: Select all
<action name="suitcloak" onPress="1">
 <key name="6"/>
</action>
<action name="speedmode" onPress="1">
 <key name="7"/>
</action>
<action name="strengthmode" onPress="1">
 <key name="8"/>
</action>
<action name="defensemode" onPress="1">
 <key name="9"/>
</action>

This allows the use of the crouch position without holding down the button.
For crouch toggle: Show
You’ll need to create and/or edit the GameInstallDirectory\Crysis\Game\Config\System.cfg file. The file should contain the following:

Code: Select all
con_restricted=0
cl_crouchToggle=1

Crouch toggle in Crysis is a little weird. It toggles the crouch position with whatever position you invoked it from. So if you crouch from the prone position, the crouch button toggles between prone and crouch. The Xpadder cycle I use compensates for this somewhat, but it’s not perfect.

App Screenshots: Show
Set 1 (I didn’t incorporate a melee button because I’m a terrible person I never use it, and what’s there takes priority for me. Also, I’m considering switching crouch and the binoculars. I’ve learned that switching to binoculars in the middle of a firefight is very bad.)
Image

Set 2 (Nanosuit switch. Note the gun modification is here too. This was to keep it similar to the in-game quick-switch)
Image

Set 3 (Weapon switch+. This set is a little loaded, but has the remaining handy controls. I pretty much just use the assault weapon toggle.)
Image

It may still need some tweaking. The game was previously unplayable for me with the default gamepad scheme. I’m still working through the mid/later levels. Hopefully the Lean (VTOL Roll) controls aren’t that necessary late game.

Let me know if there are any questions, etc. For some reason I only sporadically get any notifications from boards, so feel free to track me down via my username if you don’t get a timely response from me.
